The Ghost of White Hart Lane is the true, previously untold story of John White, one of the greatest, most unique footballers of his generation. To be spoken of in the same breath as Glenn Hoddle, Martin Peters and Dimitar Berbatov, described by Danny Blanchflower as 'a magical player' and by Jimmy Greaves as 'a great, great player who was only going to get better', White died in a freak accident, aged 27, in the summer of 1964 when he was struck by lightning on a North London golf course. A crucial component of Spurs' 1960-61 Double-winning side, he had just learnt that Bill Nicholson was going to build the next great Spurs side around him and was approaching the pinnacle of his career. |
